Sen. Jeff Flake Town Hall

Arizona Senator Jeff Flake has some questions to answer. Recently, the senator introduced a controversial bill that removes consumer Internet protections and privacy by allowing Internet service providers to sell their consumer’s browsing history.

In February, Flake voted to roll back environmental protections known as the Stream Protection Rule, thereby allowing the dumping of waste in streams. Despite weeks of calls, letters and visits from constituents on both sides of the aisle, he has supported every one of Donald Trump’s cabinet picks, including Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, an opponent of teachers and the public school system.

As our elected official, charged with the honor of representing us, we insist that Sen. Flake honor the tenets of his position by making himself available for a live, physical, in-person Town Hall meeting. His unwillingness to do so despite repeated and sustained requests has sent a message that he simply does not care. As his constituents, we hold out hope that this is not the case.

So we are taking the initiative. We will hold our own Jeff Flake Town Hall on Thursday, April 20th, from 7 pm to 9 pm, at the  International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union Hall – 5808 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. It will take place during Recess Week, a time designated for elected officials to return home, hold Town Halls and meet with their constituents.

We will extend the invitation to Sen. Flake’s Phoenix office at mid-morning on Tuesday, April 4. We will make it clear that this is a nonpartisan, community event. We encourage all to attend. We will do our best to ensure that any and all Arizonans longing to meet with their Senator face-to-face have that opportunity.

We believe this sort of civic engagement is what the Founding Fathers had in mind. We don’t believe they ever intended for American lawmakers to lead lives wholly and aggressively separate from those they are paid so handsomely to represent.

So in honor of our Founding Fathers and for love of country, we the citizens of Arizona, are holding this Town Hall. We know Sen. Flake can easily reassure many of his concerned constituents by simply showing up, thereby indicating that he does care and that he does have our best interests at heart.

Other local lawmakers will be invited as well to discuss healthcare, immigration, education, the environment, Internet privacy, etc., All issues that have a great impact on Arizonans and our other fellow Americans!

We hope to see you there!
Thank you for listening!

I want our senators to sponsor affordable healthcare plan. Not doing so is immoral. Don’t support #Trumpcare 0.5 or worse that strips essential benefits & pre-existing conditions while greatly increasing premiums for 50+ just to give tax breaks to wealthy. About 75% of Arizona rely on Obamacare (subsidized or not) individual plans or Medicaid.
